Talk Derby To Me, Talk Old Forester
The founder of Old Forester, George Garvin Brown, was born on September 2nd, 1846 in Munfordville, Kentucky. Old Forester was named after a physician named Dr. William Forrester. Old Forester is a Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey. It was the first bourbon to be offered completely in sealed bottles. Old Forester invented the Old Forester Mint Julep. A Mint Julep is a beverage made with whiskey, sugar, crushed or shaved ice, and fresh mint. The Old Forester Mint Julep is the Official Drink of the Kentucky Derby. The Kentucky Derby is a famous annual horse race, and the 148th Kentucky Derby will be held on May 7, 2022, at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky.

MINT JULEP
Old Forester Mint Julep recipe:
● 2 parts Old Forester 86 Proof ● 0.75 part simple syrup
● 8-10 mint leaves
● Serve over crushed ice INSTRUCTIONS
The Old Forester Mint Julep cocktail recipe is a traditional, from-scratch build of the south’s most infamous warm-weather cocktail.
Pack mint julep cup with crushed ice. In a mixing glass, combine bourbon, syrup, and mint leaves. Lightly bruise mint leaves with a muddler, strain contents into a julep cup. Garnish with 3 generous sprigs of mint.
*Make sure to slap mint. Make sure to insert a straw into the ice near the mint.
MINT JULEP LEMONADE
INGREDIENTS
- ● 1.5 oz. Old Forester 86 Proof
- ● 1.5 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
- ● 1.5 oz. Simple Syrup
- ● 1.5 oz. Water
- ● 8-10 Mint Leaves INSTRUCTIONS Our Mint Julep Lemonade is bright and refreshing. Lemon and mint pair perfectly with Old Forester Bourbon for a sessionable warm-weather sipper. Rub the inside of a Collins glass with mint leaves. Discard leaves. In a shaker tin, combine the first four ingredients and shake with ice. Strain over fresh ice into prepared glass. Garnish with a mint sprig and lemon peel.
10-SECOND MINT JULEP
INGREDIENTS
- ● 3 oz. Old Forester Mint Julep
- ● 3 Mint Sprigs for garnish INSTRUCTIONS Making a classic julep has never been easier with this just-add-ice premium bottled mint julep. Pack Collins glass with crushed ice. Pour Old Forester Mint Julep over ice. Garnish with three generous sprigs of mint. *Make sure to slap mint. Make sure to insert a straw into the ice near mint.
