The Balcony Las Olas Review – A Culinary Feast
After riding the train for 30 hours from Philadelphia to Fort Lauderdale, my husband and I were ready to experience South Florida to the fullest.
After doing some research, we decided that we had to try the new and hip restaurant, The Balcony. This New Orleans-inspired restaurant is located on the trendy Las Olas Boulevard – 1309 E Las Olas Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301.
When you arrive at The Balcony, you can truly see how beautiful their decor is. The red booths, showpiece chandeliers and magenta lights stand out from most restaurants. The Balcony’s Instagram page was true to their lively atmosphere.
Let’s Talk About The Food!
The Balcony‘s menu is fantastic. The dishes we tried were very flavorful and contained hints of different cultures.
Tapas / Appetizers
OYSTERS BIENVILLE. This New Orleans classic will take you to straight Louisiana on your first bite. It is definitely a must-have when visiting The Balcony on Las Olas.
NATCHITOCHES PIES (on the right). This dish reminds me of a beef empanada. The meat was soft and juicy with a crispy crust.
NEW ORLEANS JUMBO LUMP CRAB CAKES (on the left) My husband, a crab cake aficionado, said these were the best crab cakes he’s had in a while – and I couldn’t agree with him more!

Double tap if it looks delicious!
CRAWFISH & SHRIMP ÉTOUFFÉE (left) & ALLIGATOR & SHRIMP JAMBALAYA (center). These two dishes will truly make you feel like you’re in New Orleans. The presentation was exquisite and the flavor was very authentic. I really enjoyed these entrees – every bite bursted with flavor!
CAJUN CHICKEN SCHNITZEL (right). What can I say: Spice heaven! This dish has it all. The chicken was truly insane. It wasn’t greasy or dry and it had tons of flavor. The sides unified and complemented the schnitzel!
Dessert
Bananas Foster
This, in my opinion, was the piece de resistance (a masterpiece for our non-french speakers). This dessert was prepared tableside, which was such a cool experience. The dessert chef A.J. explained, prepared, and highly entertained us with his fabulous personality. Be sure to check out my Instagram TV channel to see the spectacular preparation right before your very eyes!
My overall experience.
The staff at The Balcony on Las Olas were very kind and made us feel welcomed. Our server, Vincent, was very attentive and personable. The manager, Kattie, was a gracious host, stopping by our table to make sure we were enjoying our experience.
After this amazing time with my husband, I just had to bring my high school girlfriends for a ladies night out. We all had such a blast! If you love a restaurant with a sweet staff, insanely flavorful and fresh food, and a memorable experience, then you must visit The Balcony!
